Moldova to hold referendum on joining the Customs Union

Moldova is to call a national referendum on country’s joining the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The decision to call a referendum and the exact date for its organisation was made by an initiative group, which launched a petition. The initiator of the move is the Social Democratic Party of Moldova.

According to party chairperson Viktor Shelin, Moldova’s accession in the Customs Union would attract investors from the EU, China and the USA. In addition, the Moldovan production would have guaranteed markets for its realisation.
