The Supreme Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica filed charges against 26 persons with involvement in an international drug-smuggling ring.The Prosecutor’s Office stated that the indictments were issued on the basis of evidence collected in collaboration with the prosecutorial offices from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia.During the investigation that the Montenegrin Department for suppressing organised crime and corruption led against 44 persons, prosecutor’s offices from Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia took over the prosecution of 18 nationals of their respective countries.
The investigation resulted in the seizure of 250 kg of marijuana and a large quantity of weapons.
As the Prosecutor’s Office notes in its press release, the defendants carried out their illegal acts from 1 June to 26 December 2011.
