Bosnia’s Finance Minister, Nikola Spiric, has sustained serious injuries on Friday night in a car accident near the town of Drvar, north-west Bosnia.The State Finance Minister, Nikola Spiric, had a hip operation on Saturday in a Banja Luka hospital following the car crash the night before.
Following the operation, the hospital has issued a statement saying that the minister is recovering well after the operation and his condition is stable.
The Bosnian Prime Minister, Vjekoslav Bevanda, and the Civil Affairs Minister, Sredoje Novic, visited Spiric on Saturday in the hospital.
“I visited my friend and my colleague Nikola Spiric. Thank God, he is feeling well and I wish him a speedy recovery,” Bevanda told the local press.
According to a police report, the car crash happened on Friday around 10 pm, when a Ford driven by an 18 year old man, carrying another three young men, crashed with Spiric’s chauffeur driven car.
Both drivers and the Ford passengers sustained light injuries.
