Croatia Holds Bomb Blasts Suspect

Police suspect a man wounded in the second of two recent explosions in Zagreb, although the motive for the attacks remains unclear.Vojislav Blazevic, 54, who is in hospital recovering from his injuries, is suspected of staging explosions in the Croatian capital on January 9 and 11.

The investigation is continuing in case Blazevic proves to be innocent, police said on Sunday.

The authorities previously ruled out terrorism as a motive.

Blazevic was the only person wounded in the two blasts which raised concerns across Croatia because no such incident has taken place in the country for years.

If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.

According to unofficial information published by Croatian media, he refuses to cooperate with the police, or to eat and drink.

The explosion at the Stenjevec local bus station on January 11 in the west of Zagreb slightly wounded Blazevic, who was taken to hospital.

Two days before, another explosive device went off under a goods train several hundred metres from the Stenjevec bus station, causing damage but no injuries.
