Pakistan’s Supreme Court orders the arrest of PM for corruption

The Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered on Tuesday the arrest of the Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and other officials for illegal payments regarding electricity projects.

The Prime Minister has denied all accusations.

The demonstrators near the parliament building hailed the Court’s decision and started chanting: “Long live the Supreme Court.”

Tahir ul Qadri, a Muslim cleric that is the leader of the protesters addressed to his supporters saying that the judiciary and the military institutions are the only that are functioning in Pakistan.
