Romania backs Serbia on EU membership

“Romania’s position will be unequivocal – Serbia should become an EU member and get a date for the start of membership talks in June,” Serbian Foreign Minister said after meeting with his Romanian counterpart Titus Corlatean on Tuesday in Bucharest.

Mrkić stressed that Romania is one of the countries that has supported Serbia by not recognizing the independence of Kosovo.

Romania is one of the five EU countries that have not recognized the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Serbia’s southern province of Kosovo.
