The “Friends of Syria” meeting kicked off here on Wednesday, with the foreign ministers of 11 countries, together with Syrian opposition, coming together as part of preparations for Geneva II Conference on Syria due in June.
The foreign ministers of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Qatar, the U.S., Britain, France, Turkey, Germany and Italy are taking part in the meeting.
In pre-meeting news remarks, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said his country supports all items of the Geneva I Conference Declaration, including a transitional government with full powers. He reiterated France’s backing to the Syrian opposition coalition.
