Presidents of Pakistan and Afghanistan discuss bilateral relations

The President of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, discussed bilateral relations over the phone with his Pakistani counterpart, Asif Ali Zardari — said an official press release here on Sunday.

According to the spokesman of the Pakistani President — Senator Farhatullah Babar — President Zardari affirmed that Pakistan was committed to further deepening and broadening bilateral relations with Afghanistan, noting that the two countries had covered a long distance in forging closer ties in last few years.

The Pakistani President said that Pakistan remained committed to peace and stability in Afghanistan, as Pakistan firmly believed that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan was in its own vital interests. He further said that he looked forward to the visit of his Afghan counterpart to Pakistan that would further deepen and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, the press release said.
