European leaders to meet and discuss Syria

imgFrench President Francois Hollande says European leaders will meet in the coming days, on the sidelines of the G20 summit to be held Thursday and Friday in St. Petersburg, to discuss Syria. Hollande did not rule out a vote on military action against Syria during a joint press conference with German President Gauck on September 3.

Hollande also indicated that is waitign for the result of a US Congress vote on possible Syria military action.

France and Britain along with the US accuse Syria’s regime of launching a chemical weapons attack that killed hundreds on August 21 and want to use military force to “punish” the Assad government. But President Bashar al-Assad denies the accussations.
