The number of the Syrians forced to leave their native country and seek shelter in refugee camps in Turkey has exceeded 200,000 people. Taking into account the people living outside these camps the figure is over half a million.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry says the Syrian citizens are accommodated in 20 tent and container camps. There are 45,000 children among them. The ministry says that since the beginning of the crisis in Syria 5,600 children were born to Syrian refugees in Turkey.
The flow of foreigners causes dissatisfaction among the local population in Turkey. Since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, the Turkish authorities have spent USD 1 billion on providing accommodation for the Syrian refugees.
