Syrian FM to visit Russia

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem will visit Moscow on September 9 to meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, RIA Novosti reported on Thursday with reference to Russian Foreign Ministry.

“In accordance with the reached agreement on September 9 the negotiations will be held in Moscow between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and emigrants of Syrian Arab Republic, Walid Muallem. The negotiations will be focused on the comprehensive review of all aspects of the current situation in Syria and around it,” the statement, published in Russian Foreign Ministry’s website, said.

The statement said that Moscow is still convinced of the need for a speedy end to the violence and the suffering of the people in Syria on the path of political settlement and without attempts of external military intervention bypassing the UN Security Council.
