Egypt’s military action in Sinai aim to wipe out extremism, says Army’s Spokesman

Armed Forces Spokesman Colonel Ahmed Mohamad Ali asserted that the army has succeeded in the elimination of the hotbeds of the criminal gangs in Sinai, pointing out that the military operations in the peninsula aim to eradicate extremism and terrorism.

Ali pointed out that some Takfiri elements affiliated to the ideology of “al-Qaeda”, intended to kill members of the army and police to create a kind of security vacuum in Sinai in order to spread their control.

He also stressed on the military’s distinguished relations with Sinai tribes and chieftains, adding that the extremist thought may threaten Egypt’s national security.

He pointed out that the operations in Sinai will not end until achieving all their goals.
