Tunisian Presidency reiterates the importance of freedom of expression

Freedom of opinion and expression constitute sacred principles, which should not be challenged”, a state published, Monday by the Presidency of the Republic reads, specifying that the press offenses, despite their negative impacts, are less dangerous than violation of freedom in society.”

The Presidency of the Republic emphasised the need to discuss the law providing for the organisation of the press sector, by involving the civil society and the professionals, to bridge the divide of the present legislation. “The legislation should be conform to the universal declaration of human rights and the constitution, presently being drafted,” the statement reads.
