PACE delegation visits Georgia

A delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) arrived in Georgian on Monday.

The delegation includes MPs Meriksel Mateu Pi, Andres Hergel, John Tomlinson, Christopher Chop, Vasily Likhachev and Boris Silevich.

The MPs who arrived in Tbilisi said that they are intending to become familiar with the pre-election situation in Georgia and to hold meetings at various levels with this aim, as well as to assess the pre-election situation in the country.

On September 23 members of the delegation will meet with the Head of the Council of Europe in Georgia, Caterina Bolognese. They will then hold meetings with civilian representatives as well as the media and diplomatic corps, as well as with the head of the OSCE observation mission Matteo Mecacci.

On September 24 the delegation will meet with chairman of the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) Tamar Zhvania, Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili and Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili.
