Romania, Lithuania reaffirm support for Albania’s EU path

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius, in his capacity as the holder of the EU’s rotating presidency, and Romanian Foreign Minister, Titus Corlatean, as holder of the Presidency of the South East European Cooperation Process, affirmed their support to Albania’s EU integration on Tuesday during a working visit to Albania.

“Cooperation between the government and opposition is extremely important for the implementation of reforms in the context of the country’s EU integration process,” the two top diplomats said in a press conference after a meeting with the Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati.

“In a country like Albania, dialogue with the opposition is very important to accelerate the path towards the European Union,” said the Lithuanian minister.

The Romanian foreign minister reiterated that involvement of all stakeholders was important for the integration, while praising Albania’s constructive role in the region, in the context of border control and cooperation development in the region.
