Mortar shell falls on Turkey’s Syrian border

A mortar bomb exploded today in the Ceylanpınar district of the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa, killing at least one person, according to initial reports.

The bomb was fired during clashes on the Syrian side of the border between the al-Nusra Front and the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Rasulayn in the Haseki Governorate.

Ambulances and firefighters were immediately dispatched to the area.

Meanwhile, schools were closed for one day by authorities, while locals were also warned not to leave their residences.
