Bulgaria supports Ukraine on signing EU Association Agreement

imgBulgaria supports the signing of an Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, stated Bulgarian Foreign Affairs Minister Kristian Vigenin.

Monday Vigenin participated in an External Affairs EU Council in Brussels, where EU top diplomats discussed Ukraine’s progress towards the agreement and prepared the upcoming EU Eastern Partnership meeting in Vilnius.

“Bulgaria has consistently backed the development of the EU-Ukraine relations,” said the Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“Our country hopes that the Association Agreement with Ukraine will be signed, because it has strategic dimensions and is an important step towards deepening relations with Kyiv,” added he.

Vigening also stated that the EU must continue its strong committment to countries in the Eastern Partnership, which he sees as a strong stimulus for reform and a boost for security in the region.

The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU can be signed before the end of 2013.
