Turkey detains truck loaded with weapons heading to Syria

The Turkish authorities have detained a truck loaded with weapons which was heading to Syria, in the province of Hatay, Turkey.

Three people were arrested. The truck contained a large amount of ammunition and weapons.

The driver claimed that the vehicle was loaded with humanitarian aid from a Turkish non-governmental organization.

Turkey has harshly criticized the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and is a supporter of the Islamist opposition, however the state denies the provision of any weapons.
