Barroso says Moldova should be free of any external pressure

imgEuropean Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has expressed optimism that Moldova will be able to decide its geopolitical future without any external pressure.

Barroso said to reporters in Brussels  that he had discussed with Romanian President Traian Basescu on how to create more electricity, rail, and road connections between Moldova and the rest of the EU.

He added that EU funds are available and could be used for that purpose.

Barroso stressed that the EU was mobilizing international financial institutions to support these interconnections.
