France warns EU partners of CAR situation

imgFrance warned Friday its partners in the European Union they must respect their commitments to help the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR), noting that the EU had not received the promises to deploy forces in country torn by war.

Since last December, France has increased its deployment RCA 400 to 2,000 troops to assist in operations peacekeeping and disarm militias warring Christians and Muslims.

The European Union decided in early February to deploy about 600 EU troops under the command of a French general.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said in a joint statement that the deployment has not been fully realized.
