Egyptian security forces battle militants in North Sinai

Egyptian security forces have killed 11 militants in an exchange of fire in the North Sinai, the military said today.

Three vehicles and eight motorbikes used by the militants in their attacks on the security forces were also destroyed, according to military spokesperson Mohamed Samir.

The military has launched frequent security raids in the area, arrested suspects and demolished housing that it says hosts terrorists, as many policemen and soldiers have been killed in the attacks, which included bombings and shootings.
