Syrian govt blasts Turkey’s recent decision to allow military intervention

A day after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announcement that changing Syrian regime is a top priority for his country’s foreign policy, Syrian government dismissed Turkish government policy as blatant aggression against its sovereignty.

“The announced approach of the Turkish government represents an act of aggression on a country that is a member state of the United Nations,” the Syrian Foreign Ministry said in two identical messages sent to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and UN Security Council Presidency Friday.

In the message, the Syrian government also urged the international community to stop “the adventures of the Turkish leadership, which is threatening international and regional peace and security.” It also asked the international community to take a serious, firm and responsible stance to put an end to Ankara’s approach, force it to abide by Security Council resolutions, stop its “unlimited funding” to armed, terrorist organizations, and stop interfering in Syrian affairs.
