France to hold urgent meeting on fight against terror

France is to organise an important, high-level meeting on terrorism here next Sunday, including participation by European and US senior officials, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve announced Thursday.
The meeting will discuss coordination and cooperation in the fight against terrorism in the wake of the attack here Wednesday that left 12 dead and eight wounded at the satirical weekly magazine “Charlie Hebdo.” Cazeneuve said that among participants Sunday will be the US Secretary for Justice and the Secretary of the Interior, in addition to European Ministers and European Union officials.
Cazneuve also warned against reactions or attacks against the Muslim community in France after several incidents were reported overnight where shots were fired at two Mosques and another building nearby was burned down after a homemade bomb exploded.
“France will not tolerate profanation of holy places,” the Interior Minister said, adding that those who commit such acts will be identified, pursued, arrested and punished.
“France is a lay country and people must be allowed to practice their faith, no matter what it is,” he added.
Cazeneuve also praised the Muslim community for its rapid reaction and condemnation of the terrorist attack against the French magazine
