The US-led coalition continued to strike ISIL targets in Syria and Iraq, with a total of 19 airstrikes between 8am on January 19, and 8am on January 20, local time, the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a statement released Tuesday.
In Syria, attack, bomber, fighter, and drone aircraft carried out 10 airstrikes near two areas: Kobani, where nine airstrikes struck seven tactical units and destroyed four ISIL staging positions, five fighting positions, four vehicles, and a mortar system, and Al Hasakah, where an airstrike destroyed an ISIL bunker, the statement affirmed.
In Iraq, 9 airstrikes were carried out using attack, fighter, and drone aircraft near six areas: near Al Qaim where two airstrikes destroyed two ISIL armored vehicles, Al Asad, where two airstrikes destroyed two fighting positions and two supply caches, Mosul, where two airstikes struck two ISIL tactical units and destroyed two mortar systems, Sinjar, where an airstrike struck and tactical united and destroyed an fighting position, Kirkuk, where an airstrike struck an tactical unite, and finally Ramadi, where an strike struck a large united and destroyed three building and two heavy weapons, CJTF-OIR said.
