Malian government will hold meeting in Bamako on Algiers draft peace agreement

The Malian government will hold an information and consultation meeting on Saturday in Bamako with the living forces of the nation on the “Draft agreement for peace and national reconciliation in Mali” in view of the resumption of inter-Malian inclusive dialogue in Algiers in February, a Malian official source said Thursday.
The purpose of the consultation meeting is “to deeply exchange and collect the suggestions and recommendations of the living forces of the nation on the synthesis called Draft peace agreement to strengthen the capacity of peace talks in Algiers,” said a statement from the Malian government quoted Friday by the Maliactu site.
The Bamako meeting will gather on 7 February representatives of the majority of political parties and the opposition, civil society organizations, traditional and customary authorities, religious associations, labor unions and human rights bodies, the source added.

In parallel, the Alliance of Patriot Democrats for the resolution of the crisis (ADPS), a grouping of organizations and political parties including the National Convention for Solidarity Africa (CNAS Faso-HERE), announced Thursday it holds Saturday a roundtable on the Draft peace agreement.

This roundtable will bring together all political parties including the majority and the opposition, the forces of the nation, said Mariam Sako, communication officer of CNAS Faso HERE, quoted Friday by the media. The meeting “was scheduled in January. We are just waiting for the announcement of the resumption of talks,” she added.
The inter-Malian dialogue, officially launched in July 2014 in Algiers, went through four rounds, under an international mediation led by Algeria. The fourth phase of the inter-Malian inclusive dialogue was held in November in Algiers.
