Algeria-Niger relations have been the focus of a meeting in Niamey between Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry Abdelhamid Senouci Bereksi and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, African Integration and Nigeriens Abroad, Aichatou Kane, said Thursday the Foreign Ministry in a statement.
During this meeting, held on the sidelines of the meeting of the International Contact Group on Libya, Bereksi and Kane “examined the bilateral relations and regional issues of common interest,” said the same source.
The two parties notably emphasized the “excellent bilateral relations that have gained momentum following President Mahamadou Issoufou’s state visit to Algeria, from 25 to 27 January 2015 and the convergence of views on the challenges of security and development in the sub-region,” the statement noted.
Niger Minister of Foreign Affairs “thanked Algeria for its participation in the Niamey meeting of the International Contact Group on Libya and praised its efforts for a negotiated political solution to the Libyan crisis,” the source added.
