Kenyan MPs strongly condemn Garissa attack

imgMPs from North Eastern region of Kenya have condemned the terror attack at the Garissa University College they termed a “cowardly attack.”
The more than 15 legislators led by Mbalambala MP, Abdikadir Aden under the umbrella of the North Eastern Parliamentary Group said the attack was horrific on innocent students who were got unaware early Tuesday morning.
“We send our sincere condolences to the families of the innocent Kenyans who were killed or injured in today’s attack. We also send our support and encouragement to the Kenyan security forces in action to save the lives of those held hostage in the students hostels,” said Aden.
The MPs declined to comment whether there were any earlier intelligence alert pertaining to the attack but instead said the government’s responsible security agencies are in control of the situation.
“We can’t say the government has failed to respond to security threats by terrorists. Let’s leave the matter to the responsible agencies at the scene than pointing fingers,” said Aden.
The legislators asked Garissa residents to turn up in large numbers to donate blood to save lives of casualties.
However, the chairman National Assembly committee on National Security, Asman Kamama said challenged security officers to be alert particularly in mot volatile regions in the country such as the North Eastern and Coastal areas.
