The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AU) Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma hailed the signing, in Algiers, of the record of conclusions of the preparatory consultations on the implementation of the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali, resulting from the Algiers process.
The chairperson of the Commission also hailed the signing of the document on the “security arrangements for a cessation of hostilities,” said the Commission in Addis Ababa.
Dlamini-Zuma also hailed the “solemn pledge” taken by the Coordination of Azawad Movement (CMA) for the signing of the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali, on 20 June 2015 in Bamako, and that of the Malian government to “keep open the door of dialogue, therefore making possible this happy development, which will consolidate peace and security in Mali and reinforce trust between the Malian parties.”
The chairperson of the commission noted that the agreed arrangements, which “do not constitute neither another agreement nor an additional annex to the existing text, provide for a cessation of hostilities in all the Northern parts of Mali, notably the city of Menaka.” Doing so, “it favours the completion of the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali under the commitments made by the parties.”
Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma reiterates the full support of the AU to the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali, whose effective implementation will enable a sustainable resolution of crises that affected Northern Mali.
