Algeria condems Mali attack on UN peacekeepers

Algeria “strongly” condemned the attack that targeted, Thursday, in the region of Timbuktu, in Northern Mali, the forces of the United Nations Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), said the spokesman of the ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelaziz Benali Cherif.
“We condemn the cowardly attack that targeted, this day in the Timbuktu region in Northern Mali, the forces of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) and which resulted in deaths and injuries among the Burkinabe peacekeepers,” the spokesman told APS.
“While expressing our solidarity with Burkina Faso, the leaders and the staff of the MINUSMA, we reiterate our rejection and our condemnation of terrorism and terrorists,” he underlined.
Five peacekeepers from Burkina Faso were killed Thursday between Timbuktu and Goundam in an attack perpetrated by terrorists.
Nine other Burkinabe soldiers were also injured.
