Capital of the Central African Republic rocked by clashes overnight

Witnesses said gunfire erupted overnight in the capital of the Central African Republic.
Violent clashes come early Monday after days of sectarian fighting that has killed at least 36 people.
The UN humanitarian agency said dozens of houses were looted and torched and thousands of people have fled the affected neighborhoods in Bangui.
Marc Vandenberghe, acting Humanitarian Coordinator of the UN, called the upsurge in violence “a big step backwards” for plans to help people who fled during the earlier periods of violence.
Central African Republic broke out in the sectarian violence in late 2013. The fighting of recent days is the worst the country has seen in almost a year.
It also comes as the transitional president Catherine Samba-Panza is in New York attending the General Assembly of the UN.
