Algeria has delayed the opening of the three land border with Libya due to what has been called “the absence of a central government capable of controlling the borders,” said a diplomat yesterday.
A source of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Algeria welcomed Libyan politicians and tribal leaders days ago, informing them that the borders will not be reopened until parts Libyan reach a consensus on the status of the land border, or a peace agreement that ends the division in the country.
