Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his Tunisian counterpart Beji Caid Essebsi expressed Sunday their commitment to fight against terrorism growing in the region.
The two leaders also discussed cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism that threatens both peoples.
Sisi and Essebsi also condemned the incidents at al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem that threatened the stability of the Middle East.
In addition to highlighting the need to strengthen bilateral relations, the two leaders welcomed the results of the Joint Committee meeting held in Tunis on September 5-8 under the prime ministers of both countries.
Meawhile, Sisi stressed the importance of the first official visit of the Tunisian leader in Egypt, adding that the two countries are still keen to develop their ties and addressing common challenges.
Bilateral trade will be increased, Sisi said, noting that the private sector will mark a new stage of cooperation between the two nations.
On the crisis in Syria, the two leaders stressed the need to reach a political settlement that maintains the unity of the Syrian territories.
