Libya: negotiations continue despite the rejection of the UN peace plan

After the rejection of the peace plan presented by the UN, Bernardino Leon, UN envoy for Libya, said Wednesday that the negotiating process would still continue to try to get the country out of chaos.
“The process [of negotiations] will continue. The political solution is the only alternative, “said, October 21, Bernardino Leon, UN envoy for Libya, during a press conference at the headquarters of the UN mission in Tunis.
“The dialogue continues. Very soon we hope the government will be proposed in Tripoli (…). The process is alive and there will be a political solution for Libya, “he added.
Bernardino Leon also announced that further meetings would take place “in the coming days”, without giving further details.
“The majority of Libyans want a solution”
After nearly a year of negotiations, Bernardino Leon had managed October 9 to reach an agreement on a national unity government with representatives of the conflicting parties present in Skhirat, Morocco.
