Bamako – The head of the UN mission in Mali jihadists said armored vehicles to attack on the basis of the mission in Kidal that killed at least seven peacekeepers last week.
Radhia Achouri told The Associated Press on Tuesday that it was the first time an armored vehicle was used in such an attack, allowing a shield of fire.
She said that surveys show that the shells fired from the camp the soldiers hijacked the truck filled with explosives entered the camp on Friday. The explosion caused the most damage, killing seven soldiers of the Guinean peace and wounding more than 30 others.
Achouri said that the attackers appear to have strengthened cars with their own armor.
The Islamic extremist group based in Mali, Ansar Dine has claimed responsibility for the attack.
