The ongoing efforts to counter terrorism in the Middle East featured high on the agenda of talks held in Cairo on Thursday between Commander of the US Central Command General Joseph L. Votel and Egypt’s Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi.
During the talks, General Sobhi emphasized the deep-rooted bilateral ties, saying that Egypt looks forward to broader cooperation with the US in all fields, as well as exchanging military expertise, a ministry statement said.
Meanwhile, the visiting US commander and the Egyptian Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mahmoud Hegazi discussed today means of achieving stability in the Middle East.
General Votel lauded the efforts by the Egyptian military to combat terrorism in the Sinai Peninsula.
