Messahel holds talks in Cairo with Tunisian, Sudanese and Libyan FMs

Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and Arab League Abdelkader Messahel held discussions, Thursday in Cairo, with the Tunisian and Sudanese Foreign ministers and Libyan Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, as well as the Arab League’s Secretary General, said the Foreign Ministry in a statement.
The discussions, held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers’ Council, focused on the political issues put on the meeting’s agenda and the situation in the region, especially in Libya, as well as on the Arab League’s reform, said the statement.
During the discussions, Messahel underlined Algeria’s commitment to supporting the UN-sponsored Libyan dialogue, and reiterated its support to Libya’s Presidential Council in the face of the political, economic and security challenges, as well as the fight against terrorism and organized crime.
He also hailed the “positive” role of neighbouring countries in encouraging the Libyan parties to overcome difficulties impeding the implementation of the political accord.
Messahel discussed with the Sudanese Foreign minister bilateral relations and the situation in the Arab and African region, especially in Libya.
