Algerian Deputy Defense Minister, Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah on Tuesday held here in his office head-to-head meetings with counterparts from Italy, Spain and France, Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Other meetings are scheduled on Wednesday at the request of the European army officials, added the source.
The statement noted that these meetings are “an opportunity to discuss bilateral military cooperation and examine issues of common interest,” added the statement.
Algeria is chairing the 5+5 Defense Initiative which counts countries located on both sides of the Mediterranean Sea, including Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Malta.
