IDF strikes Gaza Strip in response to rocket fire – report

The IDF struck the Gaza Strip on Tuesday night in response to a rocket fired previously from the coastal enclave into Israeli territory.

According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, the military struck an underground tunnel belonging to Hamas at the southern Gaza Strip.

“A short while ago, IDF airplanes struck an underground facility belonging to Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip,” the IDF said. “The attack was performed in response to rocket fire sent from the Gaza Strip into Israel earlier tonight [Tuesday].”

Rocket sirens were activated in several town surrounding the Strip on Tuesday evening, the IDF reported.

The sirens were heard throughout the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council. One rocket was intercepted by an Iron Dome battery, the IDF announced.
No injuries were reported.

Earlier Tuesday, the IDF announced that it had exposed a terrorist tunnel reaching from the Gaza Strip into in Israeli territory.
