Turkish forces shell Kurdish positions in northern Aleppo

Aleppo Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Turkish forces stationed in their military bases in “Euphrates Shield” areas, have shelled Al-Shahbaa area, Sad Al-Shahbaa and the surrounding areas of Mare’ town in Kurdish-held areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo. No casualties have been reported.

Yesterday, SOHR sources said that Kurdish forces fired several mortars on the Turkish military base in Azaz city in the northern countryside of Aleppo, along with targeting the frontlines with Turkish-backed factions in the area with heavy and medium machineguns.

SOHR activists had reported that Turkish forces shelled, with artillery, the surrounding areas of Tal Rifaat town, Harbal village and Mar’naz in Kurdish controlled areas in the northern countryside Aleppo. No casualties were reported.

A day earlier, Observatory sources reported that Turkish forces stationed in “Euphrates Shield” areas shelled the Kurdish-controlled villages of Mar’naz and Al-Alqamiyyah in the northern countryside of Aleppo with artillery. No casualties were reported.

On January 13, SOHR activists reported artillery shelling by Turkish forces stationed at the base of “Al-Buhuth” in north Aleppo countryside, targeting frontlines of Maranaz village and the outskirts of Tel Rifaat town.

The shelling coincided with clashes between Kurdish forces and Turkish-backed factions following an infiltration attempt by Turkish-backed factions into Kurdish positions in Ain Daqna and Maranaz villages in the northern countryside of Aleppo province.
