Russia has sent a huge heavily armed convoy to Syria

Moscow sent a substantial military convoy of equipment and weapons systems of the Russian Federation to the area of the Syrian city of Ayn Issa, some Russian agencies report, including Aviapro. According to sources in the Russian news agency, it is a convoy of at least 16 vehicles, including armored personnel carriers, armored cars, army trucks with additional equipment and soldiers.

Pro-Turkish jihadists currently besiege the city of Ayn Issa, media reported. According to the analysis of military experts in the region, this is not a rotation of the Russian military but a planned attack. The number of soldiers in the Russian Federation area has reached at least a thousand soldiers.

We remind you that only a few days ago, the Russian Air Force carried out several air raids and attacks on jihadist positions in Idlib. Field sources say the strikes destroyed equipment mostly provided by the Turkish military.

With each passing day and with Moscow’s help, the Syrian Arab Army is gradually taking control of more and more areas in Idlib. Sources report that the enemy side is methodically violating the agreements reached, which is why the Russian military has activated.
New military operations

New military operations are taking place in central and eastern Syria. Field sources say Russian forces and units of the Syrian Arab Army are searching for the Islamic State terrorist group members.

According to the field source, the Palmyra triangle area is the primary action for conducting military search operations. Military intelligence suggests that the last members of the terrorist group in the country are in this area.

We remind you that Russia and Syria have carried out a series of successful anti-terrorist operations in the Badia al-Sham area in recent weeks. The Syrian Arab Army has begun conducting helicopter air patrols in the Badia al-Sham and Palmyra-Deir Ezzor areas to ensure citizens’ safety.
Syrian army is on high alert

The situation in southern Syria is deteriorating after a series of coordinated attacks by the Free Syrian Army [FSA], writes Al-Masdar News. According to the Lebanese newspaper, in the Syrian province of Daraa, the Syrian Arab Army is ready to retaliate against terrorist sleeping cells, causing violence in the area since the beginning of the year.

The rumor alleges that rebels from the Free Syrian Army killed the governor of a city in Daraa province. For this reason, the publication claims, Russian military units were mobilized and sent to the area. So far, however, the lack of compromise has led to the failure of all attempts at a truce.

The Syrian Arab Army is trying to expel the Free Syrian Army commander in the Idlib area. According to the local government in Daraa, he is accused of plotting to attack.
War in Syria

In February 2020, Turkey lost at least 62 troops killed in Syria. Nearly 100 soldiers were wounded, Syrian-backed forces destroyed dozens of Turkish armored vehicles, and more than ten drones, including drones, were shot down. Washington has repeatedly accused Moscow of involvement in the deaths of Turkish soldiers, Russia rejects these allegations.

In early March, the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, agreed that a ceasefire came into force in the Idlib de-escalation zone. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad later said that if the US and Turkish military did not leave the country, Damascus would use power.

The reason for the Russian-Turkish negotiations was a sharp aggravation of the situation in Idlib, where in January, a large-scale offensive by the Syrian army against the positions of the armed opposition and terrorists began.

Government forces recaptured nearly half of the Idlib de-escalation zone and left behind several Turkish observation posts. After that, Ankara sharply increased its military contingent in the region and launched the operation “Spring Shield” to push the Syrian troops. Militants are loyal to Ankara and support Turkey.
