Trio of Kosovo Leaders Jostle for PM’s Post

Voters in Kosovo will go to the polling stations in February 14 to elect a new parliament with – as in past elections – the candidates running for the post of Prime Minister in the spotlight.

Kosovo voters head to the polling stations on February 14 for the sixth legislative elections in 13 years, in a competition featuring three main contenders for the post of Prime Minister.

Albin Kurti of the Vetevendosje movement, Avdullah Hoti of Democratic League of Kosovo, LDK, and Enver Hoxhaj of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, PDK, are the three proposed candidates for the job of running the executive.

Early elections were triggered in December 2020, when Kosovo’s Constitutional Court ruled that Hoti’s LDK-led coalition government was illegitimate because it had been voted into office with the help of an invalid vote cast by an MP with a criminal conviction.
