Sisi discusses with CIA director ways to boost security and intelligence cooperation

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed with US Central Intelligence Agency director William Burns in Cairo on Monday the ways to boost security and intelligence cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Egyptian Presidency, El-Sisi and Burns also exchanged views about the recent developments in several international and regional issues of common interest.

The Egyptian President emphasised the strength of Egypt-US relations and the importance Egypt attaches to strengthening cooperation in different fields, especially at the security and intelligence levels, to support effots aiming to restore stability in the Middle East in light of the challenges it is currently witnessing.

The Egyptian Presidency stated that Burns conveyed to President El-Sisi the greetings of US President Joe Biden. During the meeting, Burns emphasised the importance and strength of Egypt-US relations.

He affirmed that Washington was looking forward to boost cooperation and partnership relations with Egypt as a pillar of security and stability in the Middle East, especially at a time of international and regional instability.

The meeting was attended by Abbas Kamel, the head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service (GIS).
