Milojko Spajic – Political Game Changer in Montenegro or Populist Showman?

Although his Europe Now movement was only formed last September, the former finance minister has already made a political splash – and he could be the biggest surprise in the March presidential election.
Less than a year after Montenegro’s “expert” government was ousted in parliament, the former Finance Minister in it, Milojko Spajic, has announced his candidacy in the presidential elections scheduled for March 19.

His newly formed Europe Now (Evropa sad) movement on January 29 announced its leader’s candidacy, stressing that it counts on the support of civic parties and national minorities in uniting pro-European political forces in the country.

Even though the 35-year-old economist is the youngest-ever presidential candidate in Montenegro, political analysts say he may count on a solid electoral result.
