Konaković in Novi Pazar: Months needed to solve the consulate’s problems

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković visited Novi Pazar where he met with representatives of the Bosniak National Council (BNV) and the Islamic Community in Serbia.

He told the journalists, after the meeting at BNV, that it will take several months to solve the administrative problems created during the opening of the BiH consulate in Novi Pazar, and that the diplomatic representation still has no budget and no systematized workplaces.

“I received information from the Minister of Finance that the budget is nearing completion, that it will be adopted by the end of March and that it will include positions for the consulates in Novi Pazar, Rijeka and the embassy in Tirana. After that, we will go to the systematization of jobs, I hope that we will realize that in the next few months, that is our priority”, said Konaković.

A day earlier, the Head of Diplomacy of BiH spoke in Belgrade with the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić, and one of the topics, he said, was the position of Bosniaks in Sandžak.

He assessed that he had positive impressions from the conversation with the leadership of Serbia.

“It is time for bolder steps in the relations between the two countries. It’s time to focus on things we can agree on, the state of frozen conflict has been going on for too long, in which the dominant themes are our differences, the painful and difficult past, which cause the fact that people run away from these areas, regardless, looking for a better future for themselves. and his children. Demographic problems, statistics and the state of the economy force us to conclude that what we have been doing so far is not good and that we have to look for a new, different way”, Konaković said.

The President of the Bosniak National Council, Misala Pramenković, said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina was informed about the status of Bosniaks in Serbia.

“We discussed the situation of Bosniaks in Serbia, both in the legislative framework and the situation on the ground, that is, the implementation of the law. We talked about different possibilities and the need to legally regulate some issues, as much as we have an emotional connection with our mother, some things have not been legally resolved. We will insist on that,” said Pramenković.
