Iraqi resistance hits multiple US bases in Iraq, Syria

The Pentagon says US bases across Iraq and Syria have been attacked at least 55 times since the start of the Gaza-Israel war

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced on 17 November its forces attacked three US bases in Syria and Iraq.

“In response to the crimes committed by the enemy against our people in Gaza, the Mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq targeted the American occupation base, Tal Baidar, west of the Syrian city of Hasakah, with two drones, and they directly hit their targets,” a statement by umbrella-group read.

The coalition announced earlier on Friday the targeting of two other bases in Iraq, the Harir base and the Ain al-Assad base.

US bases in Iraq and Syria have been under constant attacks since the middle of last month. The attacks come in solidarity with the resistance in Gaza and in rejection of US support for Israel’s ongoing war there.

Several missile and drone attacks targeted US occupation bases in Syria on 13 November. The attacks were a direct response to the latest round of US airstrikes on the country, which Washington claims as “self-defense.”

According to Al-Mayadeen’s correspondent, the attacks “led to the deaths of four US soldiers.”

The Pentagon announced the following day that US bases in Iraq and Syria have been subjected to 55 attacks since last month. Twenty-seven attacks took place in Iraq and 28 in Syria, it said, adding that 59 US soldiers have been injured.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq is a coalition made up of several Iraqi resistance groups with links to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Crops (IRGC).

It was formed last month to express solidarity with the Palestinian resistance.

In a recent interview with the Spanish daily El-Mundo, the Deputy Secretary-General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, said that attacking US positions in West Asia are “essential” to stop the mass murder of Palestinians in Gaza.

“US military intervention is part of the violent Israeli reaction and serves to protect this monstrosity,” the Hezbollah deputy chief stressed.
