Only 15 percent of Israelis want Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to remain in office after the Gaza Strip war, according to a new public opinion survey published on Tuesday, as reported by Anadolu Agency.
The research, conducted by the Israel Democracy Institute, revealed that 23 percent of Israelis prefer former Minister of Defense and member of the Security Cabinet, Benny Gantz, to become the prime minister.
Approximately 30.5 percent of respondents did not name a preferred leader for that position, according to the survey.
Netanyahu is facing widespread criticism in Israeli circles for the failure to detect the Hamas attack on October 7 and for the way he handles the issue of Israeli captives in the Gaza Strip.
Israel launched relentless air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip following the cross-border Hamas attack on October 7.
The attacks have left the Gaza Strip in ruins. Approximately 60 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, and nearly two million residents have been displaced.
Since then, at least 22,185 Palestinians have been killed, and 57,035 have been injured, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. It is believed that almost 1,200 Israelis were killed in the Hamas attack.
