Children from Gaza send powerful messages to pro-Palestinian students in the US

Palestinian children gathered on Wednesday in central Gaza Strip to express gratitude to students from American universities who have been protesting in solidarity with Gaza for days, risking arrests and academic suspensions.

“Thank you to the brave students at American universities” and “Thank you for standing with Gaza” were some of the banners waved by children in the city of Deir al-Balahu.

“We express our gratitude to American students for their solidarity with the Palestinian people. Arab and European students should emulate them to fully end the war in Gaza,” said Palestinian Awani Khattab.
One Palestinian woman, who wished to remain anonymous, urged Arab students “to stand with the Palestinian people in the midst of the Israeli war in the enclave.”

“Students at American universities empathize with our suffering. We appreciate their courageous stance,” she said.

Columbia University in New York has been the epicenter of student protests since April, which have spread to dozens of universities and colleges across the United States, expressing opposition to the Israeli war in Gaza. Additionally, large-scale riots erupted on the campus of the University of California last night after pro-Israeli students attacked pro-Palestinian demonstrators.
