Fierce Israeli strikes on Hezbollah: Warning to residents – “Take cover immediately”

The Israeli military has called on civilians in Lebanon to leave areas where Hezbollah operates, warning that they will soon “launch extensive precision strikes” against the Iranian militant group across the country, after identifying plans for large-scale rocket attacks against Israel.

The warning from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) comes after a weekend during which the two sides exchanged the most intense fire since the start of the war in Gaza last October.

Footage on social media shows large explosions in southern Lebanon, believed to be part of widespread attacks announced by Israel this morning.

SkyNews reports dozens of airstrikes this morning in southern Lebanon. A large cloud of smoke can also be seen above the Lebanese-Israeli border.

Israel states that today’s attacks are expected to be more significant than yesterday’s heavy bombardment.

The country’s military spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, stated this morning that the residents of southern Lebanon have been warned to stay away from Hezbollah positions.

“We urge the residents of Lebanese villages to pay attention to the messages and warnings issued by the IDF and to follow them,” said IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari at a press conference.

“We advise civilians from Lebanese villages that are located in or near buildings and areas used by Hezbollah for military purposes, such as weapons storage facilities, to immediately evacuate dangerous zones for their own safety,” he added.

Hezbollah, the most powerful independent armed group in the region, operates covertly, and people in Lebanon generally do not know the identities of its members or details of its operations.

Hagari also said that messages with the same warnings would soon be sent to the residents of Lebanon, reports Index.hr.
