Feysal Meqdad made the remarks in a meeting here on Sunday with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, where he reiterated the two countries’ profound bonds and strategic relations.

Further in the meeting, Feysal conveyed a message from his President Bashar al-Assad to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and briefed Mottaki about the so-called Middle-East peace summit in Annapolis, the US.

For his part, Mottaki noted the two countries’ relations, and mentioned that Iranian and Syrian leaders have always envisaged interests of the Islamic and Arab Ummahs (nations) in their far-sighted plans with vigilance and wisdom.

“In the confrontation with injustice, resistance of the Islamic and Arab countries against occupiers is the only way to materialize their (Muslims and Arabs’) goals and interests,” he said.

The top diplomat also blasted the United States and Israel’s unreal peace gestures, reminding that Washington and Tel Aviv made a show of the Annapolis conference while they were killing the oppressed Palestinian people and gifting the corpses of the martyrs to their bereaved families.

Earlier on Sunday, the Syrian deputy foreign minister also met with his Iranian counterpart Sheikh Attar and exchanged views about the US conference.
