EU Proposals not Mirrored by Media

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Chairman of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said that the EU offer is different from what has been reported by the media.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a convention on ‘Imam Khomeini’s Thoughts in the Field of Foreign Policy’, Allaoddin Boroujerdi said that the proposals will be formally presented to Tehran during a visit to Iran by a European delegation, stressing that the proposal differs from what has been reflected by the media.

The legislative official said that his country should take her time and do not act hastily in studying the views of the Vienna meeting participants.

Stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran would continue its present path, he noted a parliament approval on the construction of 20 nuclear power plants and reiterated that Tehran has to produce nuclear fuel for its power plants at an industrial scale.

Underlining that nuclear fuel production sets the goal for his country, he viewed negotiations possible but only in compliance with the achievement of the said goal.

Asked about the US participation in the nuclear negotiations, he reminded that the White House has asked for negotiations with Iran several times, including the recent call by the US administration for direct talks with Iran over the Iraqi issue.

Meantime, he underscored that the Islamic Republic would never suspend its nuclear fuel production cycle, adding, “The halt of enrichment activities is impossible from the technical point of view too. Europeans have unofficially accepted the impossibility for the suspension of our enrichment activities, and the United States too has no way out but to consider Iran’s suspension of nuclear enrichment an impossibility.”

The chairman of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission termed Washington’s demand for attending nuclear talks with Iran a defeat for the US diplomacy and mentioned that the prerequisite demanded by the White House for attending nuclear talks with Iran is in fact an attempt to make up for its passive stance.

The MP stressed that the world has now recognized Iran’s right to access the peaceful nuclear technology.
